Frequently Asked Questions for Your Photographer
Photographers can have any number of ways that they go about their session. Here are the most IMPORTANT answers to look for when finding a photographer.
How much is a session, wedding, collection, package etc.?
Photographers will have many different approaches to this question. Some list their prices directly on their website, like I do. Others will have you send an inquiry first and then deliver a pricing guide. Look for an “Investment” or “Pricing” page on their website.
- How do they deliver photos?
Almost every photographer I know, including myself, delivers via an online gallery. If you haven’t had photos taken in a while, this might be new to you! Many will also offer and deliver USB’s.
- In order to get the highest quality from your online gallery, make sure that you are DOWNLOADING the photos and not just screenshotting them from your phone. If you screenshot and then try to print them, you will be disappointed in the quality and it will not be your photographers fault.
- How long does it take for photos to be returned after they are taken?
Again, this can be variable from photographer to photographer. Even some of the busiest photographers can get photos edited and delivered in 48 hours. Some take a couple of weeks. It’s important to know that there is so much more to editing your photos than just putting a preset over the photo. They’re editing background distractions, whitening teeth, swapping faces, color correcting, etc. All of these require time and expertise so be prepared for any amount of return time.
- How do we choose a location?
Ask your photographer! They’re going to know lots of good places to take photos. If you’d like somewhere unique, location scouting can be a fund way to take a drive and explore! Most photographers do it! Be sure to pin any locations that you find and share them with your photographer to see if they’re willing and able to shoot somewhere new!
- Should I print my photos at Walgreens or Walmart or CVS?
Are you prepared for a biased but logical opinion? You should NOT print your professionally curated photos at Walgreens. Your photographer is likely using a photo sharing software. Most of them have prints, canvases, and albums that you can order directly from the online gallery. If you want your photos printed, this is where you want to print them! You will get professional and beautiful results. If you invested the money for a photographer, you should invest in the prints as well.
