Prepping your husband who hates photos for photos!

Have photos coming up but someone in your family is dreading it? Try these tips!

First off, I want you to know that it is not your responsibility to make this a good experience for them! It’s mine as the photographer! I’ll do everything in my power to make it enjoyable – for most men, photos are most enjoyable when they are over quickly! You can expect quick and efficient photo taking with Rochelle Slade Photography and still get those dreamy candid shots!

Set expectations! Let them know that you booked a session and that you know it will be no longer than an hour (unless its a wedding or an extended family session). Be honest with them about why you want these photos. If it’s important to you, it’ll be important to them.

#2

Communicate your excitement for at least a week before your session! It can go a long way to express how excited you are to have photos done! Just try it, I promise!

#3

Get new clothes! If you can afford it, get new outfits for everyone specifically for the photos. Who doesn’t love new clothes? Well, except maybe your kids but most people do, right!

#4

Be sure to let your husband be comfortable! I know, I know! You want photos to be perfect and your husband wants to wear a baseball cap. Compromise and let him wear the baseball cap as long as he has a nice haircut that will still look good under that hat when we get a few without it. Photos are about memories and personality so try not to get too hung up on picture perfect.

#5

Make sure everyone is fed and full before a session! Prevent any hangry-ness and bring snacks for your spouse and your kids. Everyone will be happy and it can make some cute photos!
